Vasumathi Srinivasan
Vasumathi Srinivasan, 68
Vasumathi Srinivasan was a guest member in the 1997 expedition and walked from Leh to Siachen Glacier, a distance of about 200kms covered in four days. On the glacier, they were the first ever team of women to walk to Camp Kumar. The members hoisted the Flag on Indra Col. She had aspired to walk the whole distance but serval constraints like infant children, family responsibilities forced her to abstain from that journey. The 2022 Tran Himalayan Expedition rekindled her old memories. She was honored when Ms Pal invited her to be a team member of the trekking party. She has been an active member of several expeditions under the leadership of Ms Pal - Karakoram Pass trek, Camel Safari, Classic Snowman Trek, Island Peak and Darwa Pass, and has also served the tata Steel Adventure Foundation as an instructor on several occasions.
A guest instructor for Basic and Advance Courses in Netaji Institute of Mountaineering and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, she is well accustomed to the intricacies of mountain climbing. Her history of mountaineering expeditions and previous interaction with the armed forces of India (being a Fauji wife herself) will ensure a smooth and seamless Himalayan traverse.
